REVISED ICT FRAMEWORK GOOD FOR GDP – MUTATI

Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati is confident that the revised Information Communications Technology (ICT) framework will create a momentum in digital transformation and significantly add value to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

In a media statement, Mutati said the new framework will increase above the original average, three percent, to five percent in order to improve on a number of factors including procedural licensing.

He said this would allow control through a convenient and enabling environment operational environment anchored on quality and affordability.

The Minister added that with the new licensing framework, five thousand direct jobs will be created in the next three years in the ICT Sector.

Mutati said the framework will ultimately generate fibre investment turning Zambia into an ICT regional hub of the southern region hence creating a new stream of revenue.
